COMPANY
HISTORY
Founded by the late Garth Edward Gambier some 35 years ago, Minster
Motor Services was started at Minster on the Isle of Sheppy in Kent.
Its core business was providing a delivery service to Motokov who
imported Skoda Cars, Zetor Tractors and Jawa Motorbikes. After a
few years Motokov decided to move it's import facility to King's
Lynn where they would have new purpose built premises and where
the port had a Roll on/Roll off facility. This move triggered Minster
Motor Services to do the same so that they could continue to provide
quality service to Motokov. After a few years Minster Motor Services
became a Limited company and started to concentrate solely on the
Skoda Car deliveries. This was due to the quantities being sold.
After seven years in King's Lynn Garth Edward Gambier's untimely
accident led to the running of Minster Motor Services being taken
over by his wife Rose who has since been joined by their son Ian.
In the 25 years that Rose has been at the helm things continued
to change. In the early 90's Volkswagen purchased Skoda which meant
that Motokov were no longer the importers of the product, this meant
that the deliveries were amalgamated with Volkswagens own product.
While Minster Motor Service still has dealings and friends with
Motokov they have sourced work elsewhere and increased involvement
with companies with whom there were already business dealings.
