Fleet

The current fleet stands at nine vehicles, this is made up from two nine-car drawbars, four eleven-car drawbars and three nine-car artics. This mixture means there are vehicles able to carry cars, vans, four wheel drives and MPV's. All the trucks are British built ERF's and the trailers were also built in Britain by Essex firm Hoynor Engineering. With modern day emphasis on environmental issues Minster Motors has been specifying it's new trucks to be as environmentally friendly as possible. One third of the fleet qualifies for the governments new Reduced Pollution Certificate. This is only normally attainable by the fitment of particle traps to the exhaust system to eliminate the black smoke associated with diesel engine vehicles. Along with reducing pollution the newer vehicles all have electronically controlled fuel management to make them as economical as possible. Tyres are another environmental issue that has to be addressed. With disposal of tyres being extremely bad for the environment Minster Motors has decided to have Michelin supply all tyres using its four-life policy. This can reduce casing disposal dramatically. Air suspension is specified on all vehicles not only does this give a smoother ride for the goods being carried but it is also classed as road friendly suspension as it does less damages to the road than traditional springs.
