Engineering Industry sees an increase in recruitment
The latest report on Jobs from the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) found that the engineering marketplace is still bearing up well, regardless of the very first slide in the amount of permanent jobs in 2 years.
Research from 400 recruitment consultancies throughout the UK revealed that although there was a drop in permanent staff places during October for the very first time in 2 years, the amount of temporary and contractor vacancies has risen.
Some industries have been struggling but the engineering industry has managed to continue recruiting. Other sectors which have been performing well are technology, accountancy and also human resources, but govt spending cuts have led to losses in the health care industry that has dragged down the jobs market as a whole.
The engineering and manufacturing market has been boosted with the announcement that 1000 new jobs are going to be created by Jaguar Land Rover at their plant in the West Midlands. This follows a similar announcement way back in April that saw another 1000 engineering positions created in the region and another 1,500 apprenticeships started up in Halewood in Merseyside.
